Biography
I am fortunate to have had such a varied creative life. After completing a three year course at art college, my career started working for Kodak in their package design department. Following this, I worked in an advertising studio in London, mainly illustrating in Pen and Ink.
After several years, I decided to go freelance as a graphic designer and illustrator, which also allowed me to devote some time to my hobby as a photographer, which turned into a lucrative career move as a Portrait and Fashion Photographer.
On moving to Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales, I took up Ceramic Painting, something I had always wanted to do ever since going to The Delft Potteries in the Netherlands, on a school trip. And so, my next adventure started: Attending prestigious craft fairs throughout the country, selling my hand-painted china and porcelain. I am so proud to say that royalty and some famous actors purchased some of my work. I even had the privilege to meet and talk with the late Queen, who showed interest in the process of painting on ceramics.
A few years ago, I became interested in developing my art digitally, aiming for a painterly style using a graphics tablet and computer. Using this method, I designed a range of greeting cards. When showcasing these designs at a trade show, I was approached by the Product Development Director for Gibsons Games Limited and was asked if I would adapt my style to suit jigsaw puzzle designs. I have become fascinated with jigsaw puzzles and how to create an image that is colourful, engaging, and challenging.
Living in the countryside surrounded by nature, I have lots of inspiration for my designs. My garden is also a go-to place for subject matter with flora and bird life in abundance.
My versatility as an artist has really helped in all my creative ventures.
